Anderson MPP Sanitary Pressure Transmitter

Anderson’s new MPP modular sanitary pressure transmitter builds upon the success of the MPF platform and re-launches Anderson into a crowded, competitive pharmaceutical pressure transmitter with a competent offering that has many distinct features and benefits to distinguish it from it’s competitors.

To begin, a little back ground on pressure transmitters. The MPP, or any pressure transmitter, is utilized when it is necessary to convert the process variable of pressure to an electronic signal. The MPP utilizes an internal pressure transducer to convert the process measurement into a corresponding mV signal. The signal is then linearized and conditioned to produce an industry standard 4-20 mA output. This mA signal is factory set over the specified range of the unit. From here the signal may be sent to a digital display, microprocessor based controller, chart recorder, or other instrumentation.

The MPP Sanitary Transmitter has been specifically designed for use in Life Sciences applications where accurate and repeatable pressure measurement is required. The measurement cell is integral to a welded sanitary diaphragm seal that is available in a variety of industry standard fitting styles and sizes. The process pressure deflects the metal diaphragm, transmitting the pressure to a transducer cell. The output signal, which is proportional to the process pressure, is then measured and processed.

What distinguishes the MPP from other products on the market is it’s modular design, allowing replacement of components and reducing stocking needs. All components are universal, with the exception of the sensing element, which is range specific.

The MPP sanitary transmitter also has fully potted electronics, which make it’s a great for harsh operating conditions. While most sensors on the market are rated as “wash down” duty and withstand direct spray, high levels of humidity are what can truly wreak havoc on electronics. Even if harsh conditions do cause the sensors dual O-ring seals to fail, simple, field replacement of sensor pucks enable cost effective replacement of failed parts that reduce down time.

Other distinguishing features include +/- 0.07% accuracy, a standard 8 Ra electropolished surface finish, a wide variety of process connections (including Anderson CPC zero dead leg and 3/4” TC fitting), 4-20 mA output standard with HART 7.0 digital communications standard, and a field configurable vertical, horizontal, or remote display. All material, surface finish, and calibration certs are standard.

Pharmaceutical applications where the MPP sanitary transmitter will add value include bioreactor head space pressure monitoring, chromatography column pressure measurement, SIP monitoring, pressure measurement in sterile gas lines, and pressure measurement in filtration processes.

With the MPP sanitary transmitter, Anderson builds on it’s rich legacy of producing products that address uniquely specific customer needs by offering a new, modular, economical pressure transmitter alternative with first in class accuracy and options in a complete life sciences package.  Contact us today for additional information and all of your process needs.
